Question: Write the substance of the poem, The Solitary Reaper, is written
by William Wordsworth.
Answer: A lonely
highland girl was reaping in a valley and singing all alone. Her song was more
attractive than the song of a nightingale heard by some tired travelers in The Arabian Desert. It was more thrilling than the song of a cuckoo among the
lonely islands of Hebrides in spring. The poet did not understand what the girl
was singing about. He guessed from the
sad note of the song that she was singing about some sad incidents of the past
or some sorrowful matters of everyday life. He listened to the song for some-time,
remaining still. Then he went up the hill carrying the sweet note of the song
treasured in his memory.
