The Theme of the story: A Cap of Tea.

A Cap of Tea

The main themes of the story are classism and materialism. This story illustrates the high-level discriminatory behavior towards the class through the character of Rosemary. His behavior and conduct give a very clear picture of the mentality held by the discriminatory class. Materialism is strictly followed by the upper class. The more they need, the more they need and they don’t want something ordinary, their most common need, extraordinary, unnecessary by ordinary people. Their want for more never dies. The velvet box of the story is a symbol of materialism, while the cup of tea is a symbol of the rich and therefore the equal needs and wants of the poor.
