Narrate the story of Jim and Della as you find it in O. Henry's The Gift of the Magi. Why are the two called the Magi?

The Gift of the Magi
Jim and Della

Answer: O.Henry is the writer of the love story, The Gift of the Magi. Jim and Della were poor but happy couples. Each wanted to give the other a present on Christmas Day. As they did not have much money to purchase a good present, they sold their beautiful possessions for the purpose. Selling her hair Della purchased a costly platinum fob chain for Jim's gold watch. Selling his gold watch Jim purchased a beautiful set of combs for Della's hair. Now, the presents that they brought for each other were of no use to them. But for this, their love was not diminished a little.

The Magi who brought costly presents to the infant Jesus perhaps wanted to preach the lesson of love. But later people forgot the significance of giving presents and valued them for their monetary worth. As Jim and Della sacrificed their greatest possessions to express their deep love for each other they are called the 'Magi’.
