A man who pulls or drives rickshaw is called a called rickshaw-puller. we see lots of rickshaw-puller in every city. They have become very common in our society.
The rickshaw-puller leads a very
hard life. He gets up early in the morning and works all day long. He has to
work in all seasons. He remains engaged in his work in scorching heat, heavy
rains, and in winter. He
carries passengers and luggage from one place to another in
rain or cold. Sometimes he has to pass the night on the roadside or on his
rickshaw.
The
rickshaw-puller needs skill in driving. If he is careless, the rickshaw may dash a pillar. It may collide with a car or a bus. Sometimes it may over-turn.
The life
of the rickshaw-puller is very miserable. He passes his days in poverty. He is not able to earn enough to maintain his family. He cannot make both ends meet. Most of them have not their own rickshaws. He takes it on daily hire. A good part of his earnings goes to the owner
of the
rickshaw.
The

After
all, the rickshaw-puller is a useful member of our society. Measures should be taken to improve the lot of the rickshaw-pullers. The government has made some laws to give relief to them. They are given loans to
