Answer: James Dillingham Young is the main hero in the story, "The gift of the Magi" written by O. Henry. He is endearingly called Jim by his wife Della. He is a young man of twenty-two. He loves his wife Della dearly. He sells his most valuable possession, his gold watch, for buying a Christmas present for her. Jim is a quiet young man, not fond of outward show. But he is sensitive and watchful. He is sad to see his beloved wife suffer from poverty. Jim also cakes note of what Della wishes to have. So he makes a secret plan to satisfy her dream. He is an ideal lover and the husband who controls his grief to console his crying wife. Although he is greatly shocked and disappointed to find Della without her beautiful hair, he soon recovers and lovingly embraces his dear wife. He is a true lover and knows that love is more valuable than any worldly object.
